Photography Competition
Terms & Conditions
1. Eligibility
1.1 The competition is open to everyone.
1.2 Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
1.3 Entry is free.
2. Entry Requirements
2.1 Photographs must be your own original work.
2.2 Images should relate to one or more of the competition themes:
- Community life in action
- Memories of Child’s Hill
- Celebrations of spirit
- Family stories and traditions
- Real people, real moments
- Church life at All Saints’
2.3 You may submit a maximum of three photographs. Each photograph must be entered separately.
2.4 Images must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format.
2.5 The recommended maximum file size is 12 MB.
2.6 Landscape photographs are preferred, although portrait images are also welcome.
2.7 Basic editing is allowed. You can crop your photo to improve the composition, adjust brightness or contrast, and fix colours so the image looks clearer. It is also fine to make small tweaks to help your photo stand out, like straightening a crooked horizon. However, please do not use filters that completely change your photo, add effects, or combine different images. Photos that have been heavily edited or generated using artificial intelligence (AI) may be excluded.
3. Historical Photographs
3.1 Historical photographs are welcome.
3.2 You must own the copyright to the photograph or have permission from the copyright holder to submit it.
3.3 Where possible, please include the approximate date, location and any known background information about the photograph.
3.4 By submitting a historical photograph, you confirm that you have the right to enter it into the competition.
3.5 All Saints’ Church, Child’s Hill, accepts no responsibility for disputes relating to the ownership or copyright of historical photographs.
4. Copyright and Image Rights
4.1 You retain full copyright and ownership of your photographs.
4.2 By entering the competition, you grant All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:
- Publish your photograph in the 2027 Community Calendar.
- Display your photograph on the church website and social media channels.
- Use your photograph in exhibitions, printed materials and promotional material relating to this competition or future community photography projects.
4.3 Wherever reasonably possible, photographs will be credited to the photographer.
4.4 You remain free to use your photographs in any way you choose.
5. People and Privacy
5.1 If people can be clearly identified in your photograph, you should obtain their permission before submitting the image. Permission can be written or verbal. For example, you could simply ask, “Do you agree to have your photo used in the Child’s Hill Photography Competition and published in the community calendar and related materials?” If possible, keep a record of their agreement (such as an email reply or signed note).
5.2 If a child under 18 is the main subject of your photograph, permission must be obtained from their parent or legal guardian. When an entry is submitted by a parent or guardian on behalf of a child, the parent and/or guardian shall be responsible for compliance with these Rules.
5.3 You confirm that your photograph does not knowingly infringe the privacy or legal rights of any individual.
6. Judging
6.1 Entries will be judged on their relevance to the competition themes. The judges will also consider creativity, how well the photo captures the spirit of Child’s Hill, originality, technical quality (such as focus and composition), and emotional impact.
6.2 The judging panel will be appointed by All Saints’ Church, Child’s Hill.
6.3 The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
6.4 Selection for the calendar is subject to available space.
7. Winning Entries
7.1 Selected photographs will be featured in the All Saints’ Church, Child’s Hill, 2027 Community Calendar.
7.2 Winning photographs may also be displayed on the church website, social media channels and at community exhibitions.
7.3 Winners will be notified in October 2026 using the contact details provided on the entry form. Please ensure your information is accurate and check your inbox (including spam or junk folders) during this time. We will let you know if your photo has been chosen and provide further instructions as needed. Winners may also be publicly recognised, for example, by being announced at a church service, event, or on the church website and social media channels. 8. Competition Rules
8.1 Entries must be received before the published closing date. The closing date is published on the competition page at https://allsaintschildshill.com/photo-competition/
8.2 Late entries will not be accepted.
8.3 Incomplete entries may not be considered.
8.4 All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill reserves the right to reject or remove any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions or is considered offensive, unlawful or inappropriate.
9. Data Protection
9.1 Personal information collected as part of your entry will only be used to administer the competition and contact entrants.
9.2 Personal information will be processed in accordance with UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
9.3 Your personal information will not be sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
9.4 If you choose to join the church mailing list, you may unsubscribe at any time.
10. Liability
10.1 All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete or corrupted during submission.
10.2 Entrants are responsible for keeping copies of their original photographs.
10.3 All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the competition if circumstances make this necessary.
11. Disqualification
Entries may be disqualified if:
- The photograph is not your own original work.
- False or misleading information has been provided.
- The image infringes copyright or another person’s rights.
- The image contains offensive, defamatory or unlawful content.
- The maximum number of permitted entries is exceeded.
11.1 If your entry is not accepted or is placed under review, you will be notified at the email address provided on your entry form. In some cases, an entry under review may be reconsidered and subsequently approved.
12. Changes to These Terms
12.1 All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill may amend these Terms & Conditions where necessary.
12.2 Any changes will be published on the competition website.

- You grant All Saints’ Church Child’s Hill permission to use your photographs as described in these Terms & Conditions.
